PROGRAMS OF STUDY
The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts offers these programs:
- Four-year Certificate program
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in conjunction with the University of Pennsylvania
- Post-Baccalaureate program
- Master of Fine Arts
The first two years of the Certificate program offer a rigorous training in the studio art practice: cast drawing; anatomy; drawing, painting and sculpting from the model; perspective; still life; color; intaglio; relief printmaking; and art history. The Academy's curriculum emphasizes working from life and on the skills of hand and eye that this produces. Students in their third and fourth years work in individual private studios opening themselves to a wide range of stylistic and media approaches under the mentorship of faculty critics. The MFA and Post-Baccalaureate programs offer students the opportunity to work with such acclaimed faculty as Vincent Desiderio, Yvonne Jacquette, Irving Petlin, and Gillian Jagger, along with our resident faculty.
