Insider tips for making the most of
your visit (and your dollars).
|
Where to Stay
In most cities, choosing a hotel can be the most difficult part of
the planning process, but not in Philly. Check out our special
hotel partners or call our toll-free number 877-88-PHILA
to speak with a live Visit Coordinator for specific recommendations
and reservations.
Traveling by Train
Traveling by rail could prove to be the easiest way to get to Philly.
Amtrak offers a special Buy One Ticket, Get 50% Off a Companion Ticket for students traveling with a parent to visit colleges. Click on the link above for details.
Campus to Campus Logistics
Plan to spend a half-day at each campus youre interested in.
The Miles Chart
will give you an idea of the distances between colleges.
Using
Public Transportation
Philadelphia's public transportation is inexpensive, safe and convenient
(for a map go to Septa.org).
Save on the $2.00 one-way cash fare by purchasing $1.45 tokens before
boarding SEPTA, the city's subway and bus system (for sales locations click here). For multiple trips
on the same day, use a $6.00 DayPass."
Navigating Center City
Whether you're walking or driving downtown, the city's near-perfect
grid is easy to follow. Add 100 for every block away from the axis
of Market Street (north-south) or Front Street (east-west). With few
exceptions, north-south streets are numbered, while the 5 major east-west
streets are named for local trees. For a map of downtown Philly click
