You may think your student ID is only good for cafeteria food and dorm access, but in Philly it’s your ticket to a multitude of discounts throughout the city.

Student ID Discounts
 Show your ID for a discounted entrance fee at Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts, and enjoy its impressive collection of American art.

 Attend the Philadelphia Orchestra for as little as $8. $10 student understudy tickets available online and in advance,$8 at door. Check out their Campus Classics program at philorch.org/campusclassics.html.

 Student Rush Kimmel Center Presents (not including Cadillac Broadway Series and rental engagements) offers Student Rush tickets on a show-by-show basis to students with ID. Student Rush ticket availability is based on prior sales, and all seat locations are at the discretion of management. Call on the day of the event for availability. When available, Student Rush tickets go on sale 30 minutes prior to the event at the Kimmel Center Box Office at $10 per ticket with ID. Limit one per person.

 For last minute planners, half price and $5 ampitheatre tickets for the Opera Company of Philadelphia are available to students two hours before the show at the Academy of Music Box office.

 Philadelphia Museum of Arts entrance fee is $10 with valid student ID.

 Student groups of 10 or more heading to an Opera Company of Philadelphia performance can receive a special group rate of 25% off single ticket prices plus one complimentary ticket for a group leader. Student groups also enjoy special reservation privileges. Reservations can be made by calling 215-732-8400.

 The FELS Philadelphia Planetarium offers star gazers a $1 discount if they flash their college ID.

 Keep an eye out for College Day on the Parkway, an annual fall event where Parkway museums and institutions open their doors free of charge to college students, and even provide free transportation.

 Check out your local movie theater to see if they offer discounted student tickets.

 To appease your more aggressive side, see the Philadelphia Wings lacrosse team hit the field for only $10 with your ID.

Free Attractions
 On the first Friday of every month, dozens of art galleries in the Old City neighborhood stay open for free until 9 p.m., as the artistic community comes out to party.

 Take the free guided tour of City Hall that's offered every weekday at 12:30 p.m., or climb the City Hall clock tower with a guide that departs every 15 minutes on weekdays. Call 215-294-8307 for more information

 Center City and suburban bookstores like Borders, Barnes & Noble and Robin's Books often sponsor free book readings by well-known authors and musical performances. Call the nearest bookstore for details.

 Student recitals at the Curtis Institute of Music and Temple University's Boyer College of Music let you hear up-and-coming talent free of charge.

 Marvel at the architectural smorgasbord of the Masonic Temple, during one of the fraternal organizations free tours. Call 215-567-5836

 Get gothic at the Edgar Allen Poe house, which offers free admission.

 Sunday is the day to hit Philly's best museums.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is "pay what you wish" all day, the Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthology is free from 1 to 5 p.m., and the Academy of Fine Arts is free from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

 While you still have to pay regular admission price, if you are at the Museum of Art on Fridays from 5 to 8:45 p.m., you can enjoy Art After 5, in the Great Stair Hall. Performances include an eclectic mix of international musicians on the first Friday of each month followed by recognized and emerging jazz artists all other Fridays. Other ongoing events include free lectures and films on Fridays and Sundays.
