Athens on the Schuylkill. The Philadelphia Museum of Art’s western entrance overlooks the Waterworks (pictured, above), home to a popular restaurant of the same name and a view that is both unexpected and breathtaking. Thousands of joggers and bikers pass this landmark daily on the city’s favorite waterfront trail, Kelly Drive.

The Schuylkill River Banks. Philly’s smaller of two rivers is easy to admire for its miles of running and biking trails.
The Rodin Museum. This rarely crowded museum on the Benjamin
Franklin Parkway is the perfect spot for reflection at the foot of “The Thinker.”
City Hall Tower. There’s no better way
to get oriented to your new home than with a visit to the top of City Hall’s 548 foot tower.
Sundays @ The Sports Complex. Philadelphia’s stadiums and half dozen major sports teams can all be found here, at the end of the Broad Street Subway in South Philadelphia.
Reading Terminal Market. Rows of local vendors make this indoor farmer’s market and international food court the perfect place to satisfy any appetite.
Rittenhouse Square. This charming city park square bustles day and night. Great for picnics and people watching.
Saturdays @ The Italian Market. Few American cities boast outdoor markets as lively as the Italian Market in the Bella Vista neighborhood of South Philly.
The Wissahickon. This 7 mile creek valley stretches from student-friendly Manayunk up to Chestnut Hill. Join the thousands of Philadelphians that lose themselves on its wooded trails each weekend!

South Street. The scene here, centered between Front and Seventh Streets, is best described as eclectic. The crowds that fill its stores and restaurants are as much an attraction as the place itself!
Avenue of the Arts. Opera, ballet and the world famous Philadelphia Orchestra all call this special stretch of Broad Street home.
First Friday in Old City. Old City’s many galleries stay open late the first Friday of each month.
Chinatown. Aside from the late-night food, students also love the Trocadero, a theater that serves as one of the best places to take in a rock concert.
Restaurant Week (January & July). Over 100 of Philadelphia’s finest restaurants create special 3-course, $35 dinners, making it possible for everyone – even students – to sample food from some of the nation’s top chefs.
Concerts @ Curtis. One of the world’s
leading music schools, Curtis’ virtuosic students offer free
concerts throughout the academic year.
Ice Skating @ Penn’s Landing. Philly’s outdoor “Riverrink” boasts beautiful city, bridge, and river views.
Pat’s and Geno’s. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the battle for the city’s best cheesesteak rages on in South Philly. And yes, they taste better at 4am.
Bowling. University City, Northern Liberties and Center City are each home to ‘bowling lounges’ that double as student hangouts.
Eastern State Penitentiary. This former prison is the city’s largest Halloween attraction each fall, as it transforms its already spooky grounds into a larger-than-life haunted house! Consider yourself warned...
